The organizers of the Charity Week are delighted with the outcome of this year’s fundraising campaign. The sixth edition of the event, held in 2026, achieved its highest result so far, raising a total of €95,913. Residents were able to donate to one of 23 participating charities. Over the past six years, the campaign has raised an impressive combined total of €538,070.

Last Thursday evening, Charity Week chairman Tom van der Waals announced the results during a gathering in the Koetshuistuin attended by collectors and volunteers. Charity Week Best took place from Tuesday, April 7, through Saturday, April 11. More than 300 volunteers contributed to the initiative.

A total of 274 volunteers distributed donation envelopes door to door and collected them again one week later, giving residents the opportunity to support the participating charities. In addition, 35 volunteers were active on the board and in various committees.

3 Percent Increase

“We expected the total amount raised to be lower,” said Tom van der Waals. “The world is unsettled and the cost of living has increased, which are not ideal circumstances for fundraising. Nevertheless, we are pleased to report a 3 percent increase compared with 2025, allowing us to surpass the previous record set in 2024.”

Van der Waals expressed his appreciation to everyone involved for their commitment and dedication. “I am incredibly proud of all our collectors and volunteers, but also of the residents of Best, who have shown that supporting charities remains very important.”

Of the total donations, 64 percent was specifically designated for individual charities, while 36 percent was left undesignated. The undesignated donations will later be distributed equally among the 23 participating charities.
